THINK DETROIT PAL IS PROUD TO WELCOME ARTHUR M. HORWITZ TO ITS BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Detroit, Mich – On October 20, the Think Detroit PAL board of directors unanimously voted to add Arthur M. Horwitz to the board.
Horwitz is the founder and president of Renaissance Media, the parent company of the Detroit Jewish News. Renaissance Media is a full-service marketing and communications enterprise. The Detroit Jewish News, which Horwitz has led since 1986, is one of the most highly regarded Jewish communal publications in the country. The successful weekly newspaper provides an influential voice on local, state, and national issues.
Prior to moving to Detroit, Horwitz managed research, marketing and planning for the A.S. Abell Company, parent of The Baltimore Sun. He was a part of the company’s original development team for Viewtron, a groundbreaking digital venture in partnership with the media company Knight-Ridder, AT&T, and The Boston Globe.
Think Detroit PAL will be just one of many organizations that Horwitz is active in. He serves as a trustee of Detroit Public Television. He is also a member of the University of Michigan-Dearborn board of advisors, the University of Michigan Health System/Taubman Center’s Consortium for Stem Cell Therapies, the executive board of New Michigan Media and the Michigan Jewish Sports Foundation board.
Think Detroit PAL was formed in 2006 with the merger of Think Detroit Inc. and the Detroit Police Athletic League. In partnership with the Detroit Police Department and community volunteers, Think Detroit PAL builds character in young people through athletic, academic and leadership development programs. In 2010, Think Detroit PAL served over 10,000 girls and boys through 10 sports, making it one of the largest youth organizations in the state of Michigan. More than 80 cents of each dollar donated to Think Detroit PAL goes directly into programming.
