LONG-TIME DETROIT YOUTH ADVOCATE NAMED COO OF
THINK DETROIT PAL
TIM RICHEY TAKES ON NEW LEADERSHIP POSITION AT THINK DETROIT PAL

DETROIT, Mich.—Think Detroit PAL announced the selection of Timothy Richey as the chief operations officer today. Richey, a long-time Detroit youth advocate, will be responsible for program deliverables, outcomes and community collaborations.

"Tim is a very passionate about working with Detroit youth.  He is well-versed in youth development principles; active in community groups and coalitions; and holds several key relationships that are vital for providing Detroit youngsters character-building opportunities,” says Michael Porter, incoming chief executive officer of Think Detroit PAL. "Tim's talent and expertise will be extremely valuable in helping lead Think Detroit PAL into the future."

Richey has been working in the youth sports industry for nearly two decades.  In 1996, Richey co-founded the Detroit Youth Soccer League (DYSL), which was the first city-wide youth soccer league in Detroit.  DYSL later merged with Think Detroit PAL.

“Tim brings with him a decade of leadership in serving the needs of vulnerable youth in Detroit,” said Scott Seabolt, board member of Think Detroit PAL and acting chief executive officer. “We are looking forward to his insight and expertise in fueling our future endeavors in education and learning, as well as leading our operations team.”

Richey has a bachelor’s degree in English from Michigan State University.  He is vice president of the St. Hedwig’s Coalition, a member many community groups including the Chandler Park Promise Coalition and is a Certified Youth Sports Administrator.

Think Detroit PAL was formed on March 1, 2006, by the merger of two of the leading youth development organizations in the Detroit area:  Think Detroit, Inc. and the Detroit Police Athletic League (PAL). The organization is one of the largest non-profit urban youth development programs in the nation, and serves nearly 12,000 young people annually through athletic, academic, and leadership development programs.
