THINK DETROIT PAL HOSTS STARS OF TOMORROW FUNDRAISING BREAKFAST

Detroit, Mich.—Think Detroit PAL will host its annual Stars of Tomorrow fundraising breakfast at Ford Field on Thursday May 12, 2011. Registration and check-in will begin at 7:30 a.m. Detroit Police Chief Ralph L. Godbee, Jr. and Think Detroit PAL programming participants will speak about their involvement and life-changing experiences with the organization.
"I am proud to participate in this year’s event as a product of Think Detroit PAL,” said Chief Godbee. “I can attest to the impact youth sports had on my development as a leader. It is events such as Stars of Tomorrow that highlight the importance of an investment in the future of a greater Detroit - its youth!".

Annually, the Stars of Tomorrow luncheon hosts individuals who commit to supporting the award-winning non-profit in various ways. “The Stars of Tomorrow event allows people to see many different ways to help our cause: they give monetarily, provide us with in-kind goods or services, or donate their time to coach or clean up fields,” said Think Detroit PAL Director of Development Ann Serra.
“Think Detroit PAL is committed to providing quality programming to the girls and boys of Detroit,” said Think Detroit PAL CEO Michael Porter. “The registration fees we charge only cover a portion of the estimated $200 per child cost of our programming. Events like Stars of Tomorrow assure that we can continue our work of building character in young people, and help us to reach even more girls and boys.”
Funds generated from this event will go to support Think Detroit PAL’s athletic, academic, and leadership development programs that serve over 10,000 children in the city of Detroit.
Think Detroit PAL was formed in 2006 with the merger of Think Detroit Inc. and the Detroit Police Athletic League. In partnership with the Detroit Police Department and community volunteers, Think Detroit PAL builds character in young people through athletic, academic and leadership development programs. In 2010, Think Detroit PAL served over 10,000 girls and boys through 10 sports, making it one of the largest youth organizations in the state of Michigan. More than 80 cents of each dollar donated to Think Detroit PAL goes directly into programming
